Air Duct Sealing

A well-sealed air duct system improves your home's air quality and energy efficiency.

Air leakage can lead to poor indoor air quality.

Besides their environmental impact, leaky central air duct systems invite harmful airborne contaminants and odors from crawl spaces, attics, and "uncleanable" areas into your home.  Leaky ducts could also potentially create negative pressure (AKA vacuum) in your home, which can further worsen air quality – much more so during wildfire season.

Most Bay Area homes have air leakage.

Leaky air ducts are very common – more than 90% air duct systems we've tested in the Bay Area had leakage. Air leakage can be rodent related, a result of poor workmanship, lack of building code mandated testing and sealing, or the usual wear-and-tear.

Breathable offers air leakage testing and restoration services.

As the Bay Area's one-stop-shop for healthier and energy-efficient air duct systems, Breathable can accurately test and seal most central air duct systems for a fraction of a cost of a full replacement (in some cases, at less than a 1/10th of the cost).

What our customers say

"Two technicians came to seal all our supply vents. We immediately noticed an improvement in how quickly our house warmed up and we haven't needed to turn on the heat as much."

- JW from San Francisco

"My vents weren't sealed. Now I can finally breathe!! The AC is now coming on really strong through the vents and I can feel the difference already.  Should have had this done earlier."

"They identified a number of areas around our vents that weren't sealed and were thorough in sealing these. We're noticing cleaner air and stronger airflow this evening."

- Mary from San Mateo

- Daniel from San Francisco

Improve your home's air quality and energy efficiency with duct leakage testing and sealing.

How does duct leakage testing and sealing work?

number-1.png

To start the test, Breathable will tape shut all of the vents in your home.

Your duct system will be pressurized to a pressure of 25 Pascal using a Title-24 compliant Fan (Ductblaster).

Once the ducts are fully pressurized, we'll quantify the air leakage (in CFM). At that point, we'll conduct a thorough visual inspection of the ducts.

Breathable will provide recommendations as to what repairs and adjustments would yield the best return on investment.
