Leaky air ducts are very common – more than 90% of air duct systems we've tested in the Bay Area had leakage. Air leakage can be rodent related, a result of poor workmanship, lack of building code mandated testing and sealing in older HVAC systems, or usual wear-and-tear.

How does duct leakage testing and sealing work?

To start the test, Breathable will tape shut all of the vents in your home.

Your duct system will be pressurized to a pressure of 25 Pascal using a Title-24 compliant Fan (Ductblaster).

Once the ducts are fully pressurized, we'll quantify the air leakage (in CFM). At that point, we'll conduct a thorough visual inspection of the ducts.

Breathable will provide recommendations as to what repairs and adjustments would yield the best return on investment.
